Susan Bouma has painted privately for close to 50 years and transitioned into abstract painting about seven years ago when she began studying under Deborah Gooch at the Vero Beach Art Museum. In that time, Bouma has "reached a remarkable degree of competence in her expressionistic abstractions," according to 32963, a Vero Beach newspaper. Bouma divides her time between Vero Beach, where she maintains her art studio, Lake Forest, Illinois, and Squirrel Island, Maine.
